Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026. This policy explains what information this site collects, why, and what control you have over it.

The short version

Nothing you type into a calculator on this site is ever sent to a server. Every calculation runs entirely in your own browser. We do not require an account, we do not ask for your name or email to use the tools, and we do not store a record of what you calculated.

The site is funded by advertising, and advertising involves third parties that do set cookies and collect data. That part is explained in full below.

Information collected directly

Calculator inputs: none. The values you enter are processed in JavaScript on your device and discarded when you close or reload the page. They are never transmitted.

Server logs. Like nearly all websites, the hosting provider records standard request information — IP address, timestamp, requested URL, referring page, user agent — for security and operational purposes. These logs are retained for a limited period and are not used to build profiles.

Email you send us. If you contact us, we hold that message and your address for as long as needed to deal with it.

Advertising and cookies

This site displays advertising served by Google, through the AdSense programme, and potentially by other advertising partners.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
  • You can opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu.

Advertising partners may collect information such as your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you view on this site, and interactions with the ads themselves. This data is handled under each partner's own privacy policy, not ours. Google's is available at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Consent in the EEA, UK and Switzerland

If you are in a region covered by the GDPR or equivalent legislation, a consent notice is presented before non-essential advertising cookies are set, and personalised advertising is only enabled if you agree. You may withdraw or change that consent at any time through the same notice. Where consent is refused, advertising may still be shown but will be non-personalised, which uses contextual signals rather than a profile.

California residents

Under the CCPA and CPRA you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion, and to opt out of its "sale" or "sharing" — a definition that can include the transfer of identifiers to advertising partners. To exercise these rights, email us at hello@ohmcalc.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising them.

Analytics

If aggregate traffic analytics are used, they are configured to record page views and referrers only, with IP addresses anonymised. They are never linked to calculator inputs, because those never leave your device in the first place.

Children

This site is intended for a general and technical audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

What this site stores on your device

One thing, and only if you change it: your choice of light or dark appearance, saved in your browser's local storage under the key ohmcalc-theme. It holds the single word "light" or "dark", it never leaves your device, and it is not read by anyone but this site's own stylesheet switch. If you never touch the theme button, nothing is written at all — the site simply follows your operating system's appearance setting.

No calculator input, no history and no identifier is stored, here or anywhere else.

Controlling cookies in your browser

Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies through its settings. Blocking all cookies will not prevent the calculators from working — they do not depend on cookies, and the only local storage used is the appearance preference described above. It may cause advertising to be less relevant.

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you can reopen the consent notice and change or withdraw your choices at any time using the Privacy & cookie settings link in the footer of every page.

Data retention and security

We retain only what is described above, for no longer than needed. The site is served over HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, but since we hold essentially no personal data about visitors, the exposure in any incident is minimal by design.

External links

Pages here link to datasheets, standards bodies and other external resources. Those sites have their own privacy practices and we are not responsible for them.

Changes to this policy

Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
